Teaching

CHRISTEN CLIFFORD

I love teaching. My undergraduate work was at Playwrights Horizons Theatre School at New York University where I received a BFA in Acting from the Undergraduate Drama Department and won the Artist and Scholar Award. I received an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from The New School Writing Program, where I received a merit scholarship and won the Nonfiction Chapbook Award. My independent scholarship is in Art and Activism, Rape and Rape Culture, Sexual Justice, Intersectional Feminism, Women’s/Gender Studies, Feminist Art, Memoir, Menstrual Equity, Mother Studies, and Sex Education. My work in Feminist Performance Art has been supported by NYU’s Women & Performance: A Journal of Feminist Theory, as well as the The Feminist Art Project at Rutgers and the Women’s Caucus for Art at the College Art Association. I am proud that several of my students at Lang have had projects chosen for the Dean's Honor Symposium. My pedagogical approach is interdisciplinary and integrates theory and practice.

I have taught at NYU, Gotham Writer’s Workshop, SUNY Purchase and The New School. I've been a visiting scholar at NYU, and done guest lectures at The New School and MIT. I have supervised Senior Projects at SUNY Purchase and am a First Year Advisor at The New School.
